Testimonianze di un amico… 2

December 25th 2018
A day to either go down in history as the day we got our independence from a government that has no affiliation with the people and doesn’t represent Sudan or the day we died trying. Either way it’ll go down in history.
Working against a government is difficult but working against a media that works as hard as the government if not harder to keep our voices down is an even more difficult ordeal. A football game was the main gathering point last night. Thousands of people moved from the stadium in Omdurman towards Khartoum to practice their basic human right of freedom of expression. They moved a distance of almost 3 miles before being met by the police and the forces of Quick Support Unit and as usual nothing but brute force and monstrosity was shown. The protests however continued and the people perceived. After a while though the brutality became overwhelming and then when all hope was lost and it seemed like another massacre was about to happen the army intervened. Luckily for all of the heroic protesters they reached a point close to the military hospital in Omdurman and the military couldn’t Stand to watch this and they immediately opened the gates of the hospital and allowed all the protesters in and stopped the police from getting to them. An act that was unmatched and unpredictable given the fact that the media not less than 12 hours prior said that the army pledges its allegiance to the President and not the people. Once again proving the weak and feeble credibility of our impeccable media.
On Tuesday. The December 25th of 2018 there will be an organized gathering and PEACEFUL march towards the presidential palace with one intent only, and that is to hand the President Mr. Omer Al-Bashir a note stating what we think of him and his government and asking them to step aside and listen to the people since he OBVIOUSLY only watches his media and trusts his own resources.
“Those who do not move, do not notice their chains”. We moved and we are breaking those chains. Chains around our throats so that we don’t speak. Chains around our bellies so that we don’t complain about hunger. Chains around our feet so that we don’t move a limb. Chains around our hand so that we don’t point to whatever it is that displeases us.
The world isn’t a better place unless we make it a better place for us. This country isn’t our home unless we make it our home. When you feel homeless in your homeland when you can’t feel safe around your own people that’s when you know you can’t feel safe anywhere and that’s when you know that your soul is broken.
“No cause is lost if there is but one fool left to fight for it”
